Graveside services for Mr. Gene Oakes, 82, of Leesville, will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Pine Island Cemetery in the Sandy Hill community. Brother Michael Lee will be officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 19,
2016 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Hixson Funeral Home of Leesville.
Mr. Oakes passed away on Friday, July 15, 2016. He was born September 25, 1933 in Leesville to Neal and Ona Moss Oakes.
Mr. Oakes was a veteran of the
USAF, and he also worked in maintenance and housing for the Shop and Go Stores for more than 14 years. Mr. Oakes was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He will be missed by all who were blessed to know him.
Mr. Oakes was preceded in death by his
son, Ronnie Oakes; parents, Neal Oakes and Ona Moss Oakes; brothers, Raymond Oakes and Wayne Oakes.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Cynthia Oakes of Leesville; sons, Wendel Oakes,Don Oakes and Kevin Oakes, all of Texas, and
a daughter, Sara Faye of Fort Worth, Texas.
