Ruth G. Anderson, 86, died peacefully in her sleep
Monday morning, October 31. God honored her lifelong prayer, to fall asleep in the arms of her savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. Arrangements are under direction of Hixson, Leesville.
Ruth was born in Bremerhaven, Germany in 1929 to Gertrude
Otto and Werner Rudolph Naumann. She is survived by her sister, Sigrid, two nephews Jens and Sven, and two nieces, Britta and Melena, all living in Germany.
Ruth was a strong woman who moved from her homeland to the states in the 1950’s
after marriage to her husband Samuel “Andy “Anderson. After losing her husband, she graduated from Northwestern StateUniversity’s LVN program and worked over 15 years at the Rosepine Nursing Home.
She loved her patients and her ministry
there. Dirk and Raymond remember some of her patient stories, most of the time stories that shouldn’t be told over dinner!
Ruth was known for her green thumb. She loved flowers and had the prettiest yard on the block. She grew some of the
prettiest African violets and she loved birds, especially cardinals. Ruth was passionate about her vitamins and nutrition, always asking about what vitamins you were taking!
She was an avid LSU\N.O. Saints fan in her early days. You were
blessed if you ever got to eat roulade and cabbage at the Andersons’.
Ruth was to her grandchildren, Omi, and being very outspoken, she had no qualms about telling it like it is, even if it stepped on your toes. She thoroughly embarrassed
her grandchildren many times!
Ruth was someone you could talk to, she always challenged you and asked about your faith in Jesus and what church you were attending. More than anything, she wanted people to know of her love of Jesus, who
changed her life radically in the 1980’s. She was a member of First Baptist Church for many years, and also House of Blessing Church.
Ruth loved her family. She is survived by her son Dirk and daughter-in- law, Tamra; daughter-in-law
Denise and husband, Chuck; four beautiful granddaughters, Erin, Bailey, Kirsten and Claire; and one grandson, Ian.
She was predeceased by her husband, Samuel; her son, Raymond; and her brother, Rudi. She was loved in the community she was
a part of for 50+ years, many friends and prayer partners.
Ruth loved Christmas, because it represents the birth of her Lord; the biggest gift of all. She wholeheartedly served Him all of her days.
