James Hawthorne

James Cyril Hawthorne passed away peacefully at
Byrd Regional Hospital in Leesville, LA. On June 7, 2018, at the age of 94, born on February 2, 1924 in Jena, LA. He was a member of the greatest generation, serving his country in the 140th Army Air Corps Signal SQ during WWII. He was stationed in
the Pacific theater on the Admiralty Islands and New Guinea.

He was honorably discharged after the war with the rank of Staff Sergeant and a letter of commendation. A man of great integrity, he was dedicated to his family,
committed to bettering his community and devoted to his religion. He loved country and religious music and for most of his adult life was the music director and a deacon at his church. A traveling salesman for over 50 years, he was constantly a top
tier producer for his company and was recognized as such by proclamation in the Louisiana House of Representatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Allie Hawthorne of Parhams, LA, sister, Verdis Hawthorne
Dowdy of Alexandria, wife and the love of his life, Marguerite Watlington Hawthorne of Anacoco, LA and his son Gary LeClaire Hawthorne of Baton Rouge, LA.

He is survived by his son, James Cyril Hawthorne, Jr. of Baton Rouge,
and his daughter Jackie Anita Hawthorne Martin of Anacoco, step-daughter, Lynne Smith of Coushatta, grandchildren, Joseph William Riley, Jaime Lynn Hawthorne, Amanda Ruth Hawthorne Serignet, Chad Martin and Todd Martin, several great and great great
grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation 6-8 PM Friday, June 8, 2018 and a memorial service at 10 AM Saturday, June 9 at First Baptist Church in Anacoco. A military graveside service will be held immediately following
the memorial at Mitchell Cemetery in Anacoco.

Pall Bearers will include Todd Martin, Joshua Martin, Joey Riley, Justin Hawthorne, Rickey Marze and Donald Beavers.
Honorary Pallbearers include Harvey Mardus, Bill
Tilley, and Frank Hornsby.
Jeane’s Funeral Service of Leesville is in charge of arrangements.
