Tammy Gene Veillon (Huffman) died peacefully on
June 18, 2018 in Anacoco, LA at the age of 48.
Tammy is survived by her husband John Dexter Veillon, Anacoco; children, Bryce and Lindsey; parents Yvonne Johnson (Cooley), Carlyle, IL, Albert Eugene Huffman, Ancona, IL; Siblings, Melissa
Haley (Huffman), Albers, IL, Spring Boeddeker (Huffman), Hillsboro, ND, Crystal Bumgarner (Huffman), Xenia, IL, Brian Huffman, Ottawa, IL. She is preceded in death by her son Christian Tyler, and grandparents Artie Cooley, Beula McClain, Leora Brown,
Merle Huffman.
Tammy was born on March 23, 1970 in Streator, IL to Yvonne & Albert Huffman. She graduated from Woodland High School in 1988. She married Dexter, her Navy sweetheart and the love of her life in 1995. After separating
from the Navy, Tammy and Dexter moved to Mamou, LA where she began her education graduating from McNeese State University in 2000 with double majors in environmental science and chemistry. Over the next 3 years, the couple welcomed 2 children into
their home.
Tammy was a member of the St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Leesville, LA. She took an immense amount of pride in being the youth minister, a teacher for the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) and the Vice President of the
Ladies’ Auxiliary. Tammy was a fierce advocate for many local projects including: support of the Crisis Pregnancy Center, the giving tree, Steubenville-South Catholic Youth Conference, Youth Mardi Gras Ball and multiple Pro-Life events. The youth
group members remember her as a kind person and driven leader who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday June 20, 2018 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church 5PM-9PM. Rosary at 6PM Wednesday
June 20, 2018. A funeral Mass at St. Michael the Archangel will be held Thursday June 21, 2018 at 10:30AM, with a reception to follow at Downtown Event Center after the burial. Father Kenneth Michiels will officiate the ceremony. Burial will follow
at the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Tammy’s life.
