William Richard Compton, AKA Bill, but known to
his family as Dick left this world to be with Jesus on April 23, 2021 and will be deeply missed. We are celebrating his departure on May 17th, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Southwest Louisiana Veteran’s Cemetery at 1610 Evangeline Road in Jennings,
Louisiana.

He was born January 14, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri. At age 14 he came to Paragould, Arkansas and lived there with an aunt and uncle. Graduating from Paragould High School he then went two years of college at
Arkansas State then entering the United States Army as a career proudly and honorably serving in Viet Nam, earning him many medals including two Purple Hearts. His sacrifice will never be forgotten.

After retiring the United
States Army Sergeant Major Compton made Leesville, Louisiana his home until his health changed the direction of his life. After being diagnosed with Dementia/Alzheimers in 2013, in 2016 he was placed into the Southwest Louisiana Veteran’s Home where
he was truly loved and cared for.

He leaves behind a sister, her daughter and her two children, a great grand niece, a nephew, many cousins, friends and loved ones, including a son and two grandchildren.

We who love him know he is in a better place waiting for us in heaven.
