Eagles looking to remain undefeated

LOGANSPORT – Last year, a touchdown pass in the waning seconds on fourth down from Ethan Frey to Grant Ducote gave Rosepine a homecoming win over Logansport.
And though both players are key components to the 4-0 machine that has been the Eagles this year, Frey will not be taking the trip to Logansport to face the Tigers at 7 p.m. Friday evening.
Frey, who accounted for six combined touchdowns and 362 yards of total offense, is on the road for a baseball showcase as the reigning Class 2A Player of the Year will be playing at Citi Field, the home of the New York Mets. He is an LSU commit and a standout catcher for the Eagle baseball squad, who won the Class 2A state title last year.
Stepping in for Frey will be junior Louisiana Tech baseball commit, Jake Smith. Smith has seen time under center this year for the Eagles, throwing for 66 yards last week and tossing a TD pass in a win over East Beauregard.
Smith will hand the ball off to Ducote quite frequently as he has accounted for at least 100 yards in each of the first four games and 14 touchdowns.
When passing, Smith has a very reliable target in Cole Donahue. Donahue was a matchup nightmare last week against Sacred Heart as he had six catches for 179 yards and three touchdowns.
Another key component for the Eagles could be Aiden Klein. Last week, Klein had two interceptions, blocked two PATs and kicked seven PATs.
Logansport is winless on the season and will be looking for that elusive first victory.
