Lady Hornets fall short of Fairview

ALEXANDRIA — If only for a few more seconds.
The Hornbeck Lady Hornets rallied from a huge deficit only to fall to the Fairview Lady Panthers on Saturday at the TIPoff Classic at Alexandria Senior High School, 55-54.
Hornbeck was unable to really keep pace early on against Fairview as the Lady Panthers owned a 21-11 advantage after eight minutes.
The Lady Hornets were limited to just four points in the second period as Fairview built a 31-15 over the Hornbeck squad at the half.
Hornbeck began to chip away at the lead after falling behind, 50-30, going on a 24-5 run to get to within a points with about 15 seconds to go. However, Fairview was able to dribble the ball out for the victory.
Rylee Cloud paced Fairview with 22 points, while Bella Smith and Reesie Jinks added 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Hornbeck senior Hannah Dahlhoff led the way with 15 points, while Hannah Mitchell and Jaida Davis had 11 and 10 points, respectively.
In other girls’ action at the Classic, the Hicks Lady Pirates beat the Elizabeth Lady Bulldogs, 63-34.
