Local Landmark burns at Dry Creek Baptist Camp

A fire in the Dry Creek community has devastated a local landmark and has saddened many residents. The old schoolhouse located, known locally as "the white house", at Dry Creek Baptist Camp was consumed by a fire on Wednesday Feb. 17, 2021.
BPSO Sheriff Mark Herford spoke to the Beauregard Daily News confirming that the fire resulted in a total loss of the structure.
Herford also remarked on the incident in an interview conducted by KPLC News.
"That building is such an important part of that community and to Beauregard Parish,” Herford said. “This is a huge loss for that community and the parish.”
The news first broke to the public when a Facebook Live video of the fire went viral.
