EUNICE — What a way to open your collegiate softball career.
On Tuesday afternoon, former Rosepine all-stater Chloe Bennett struck out 10 batters en route to tossing a no-hitter as she led LSU-Eunice to an 8-0 victory over Alvin Community College in the first game of a doubleheader sweep.
In the nightcap, the Lady Bengals rallied for a 6-3 win over Alvin Community College. This weekend, the Lady Bengals will take a trip to Texas for a little two-step, playing doubleheaders on back-to-back days.
Bennett was stellar in her collegiate debut, needing just 69 pitches to get the job done, which included striking out the side to end the game in the fifth inning. In all, Bennett allowed no runs on no hits with one walk and 10 strikeouts.
Bennett faced 17 batters in the game as one other runner reached for Alvin on an error.
Bennett, a five-year starter at Rosepine High School, will likely see more action in the circle during this weekend’s contests in Texas.
