SIMPSON — It’s been a pretty memorable high school basketball career for Braxton Basco.

The senior point guard for the Simpson Broncos has won two state championships as a member of the squad, while also being a part of four trips to the Top 28.

But in the meantime, Basco wanted to ensure he would have a little basketball left to do on the weekend after the state tournament.

Recently, Basco competed in the regional three-point shootout at Alexandria Senior High School and came away as the regional champion. As a result, he qualified for the state competition, which will be held Saturday, March 19, during all-star weekend at Louisiana Christian University in Pineville.

According to Simpson head coach Jade Losavio, Basco has worked very hard in earning this opportunity.

“The Simpson community is very proud of Braxton,” Losavio said. “He is a very hard worker and we are all looking forward to seeing him at the all-star weekend and wish him the best of luck.”

Basco helped the Broncos reach their sixth consecutive trip to the Top 28, where they fell in the semifinals to top-ranked Calvin.
