Leesville man pleads guilty to 4th DWI

A Leesville man pleaded guilty Monday to his 4th Driving While Intoxicated offense, according to officials with the Vernon Parish District Attorney’s Office.
On Aug. 15, Anthony Scott Kezerle, 29, entered his guilty plea in the 30th Judicial District Court.
According to Vernon Parish District Attorney Terry Lambright, Kezerle was already serving 12 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections for a prior offense of DWI 4th. Kezerle was released from custody and was on supervision with the department of corrections when he was arrested on two separate occasions for driving while intoxicated, according to Lambright.
As a result of his most recent arrest, Kezerle was found in violation of the conditions of his release and was ordered to serve the remainder of his original 12-year sentence with the department of corrections. While serving his prior sentence, Kezerle entered guilty pleas to both of the new offenses of DWI 4th. Pursuant to the plea agreement, Kezerle was sentenced to an additional 25 years on top of the original 12-year sentence for a total of 37 years in prison.
Lambright said he was pleased with the sentence and described Kezerle as “a repeat offender who clearly has no intentions of obeying the law”.
“I believe the sentence is fair and the citizens of Vernon Parish can rest at ease knowing that he will not be able to operate a motor vehicle upon the roadways of our state or community in the near future,” Lambright stated.
