DOTD work on US 171 acceleration lane in Vernon Parish to begin Sept. 1

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced that, weather permitting, work will begin Thursday, Sept. 1, on an acceleration lane project at the intersection of US 171 and Cryer Cemetery Road in Vernon Parish.
The 0.364 mile project is expected to take approximately 3 months.
The project was awarded to the low bidder, T.L. Construction, LLC in the amount of $810,036.30.
According to DOTD officials, the contractor will begin saw cutting and pavement removal on Thursday and the roadway will be open to all local and through traffic, with no restrictions for passenger vehicles and a 12’ wide lane width restriction for all oversize vehicles traveling southbound US 171. Southbound US 171 will be reduced to one lane during construction operations.
