A 28-year-old Leesville man has been arrested for suspected child abuse.

Donald Ray Garret was arrested by the Leesville Police Department on a warrant that stems from a report made to Leesville Police on Jan. 10.

The complainant reported the 2-year-old alleged victim had been with her father the previous weekend.

Upon returning home, the mother observed substantial bruising to the buttock area of  the child.

The mother sought medical attention for the child and made a report to local law  enforcement.

As a result of the investigation into the reported incident, a warrant was issued for Garrett for one count of cruelty to a juvenile.

He was arrested on Jan. 16 and booked in the VPSO jail.

All persons are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
