Despite the chill in the Southwest Louisiana air the past few days, a cold front is expected to sweep through the area Thursday night into Friday morning.
As it does, it will bring the risk of severe weather, according to the National Weather Service’s Lake Charles office.
The northwestern portion of Vernon Parish is at a slight risk of receiving severe weather and Calcasieu and Cameron parishes are at marginal risk level.
The risk of severe weather could include damaging wind gusts, hail, and tornadoes.
There is also a risk for excessive rainfall across the area. NWS-Lake Charles reported that showers and storms are expected to develop across southeast Texas Thursday afternoon and move into western Louisiana by Thursday evening. This will eventually evolve into a line of storms expected to cross the area overnight Thursday night into Friday morning.
