Shell elected to Vernon School Board

Deidra Shell was elected to the Vernon Parish School Board on Saturday during a runoff against fellow Republican Todd Egan for the District 3 seat.

Shell received 493 votes, or 51 percent, over Egan’s 479 votes, or 49 percent.

Vernon voters also overwhelmingly approved two millage continuations for road improvements. An 11.89 mills continuation proposal was approved with 464 votes, or 66 percent. There were 235 votes, or 34 percent. A 4.77 mills continuation proposal was approved by 441 votes, or 63 percent. There were 254 votes, or 37 percent.

Three proposed constitutional amendments were also favored by Vernon voters.
