Anacoco runner competing at state indoor meet

BWS Sports

ANACOCO — Anacoco standout Sophia Acevedo Swinney will be competing in a pair of events on Saturday at the annual LHSAA Indoor State Track and Field Championships, held at Louisiana State University.

Swinney, who qualified in three events, will be running in two of the events, bypassing the 1600-meter run to focus on the 800 and 3200-meter runs.

Swinney qualified for the 3200-meter run with the third best time in the state at 11:57, while also meeting the standard in the 800-meter run as she is ranked seventh overall with a time of 2:30.

Her 1600-meter time of 5:43 was good enough to qualify 10th overall, but Swinney has opted to not run in this event.
