Beauregard and Vernon schools closed Tuesday

All schools in Beauregard and Vernon Parishes joined others across the area by canceling all classes Tuesday, March 22.
School officials announced the closures Monday evening after forecasts called for severe weather across the area that could bring damaging winds and excessive rainfall.
Vernon Parish school officials said the severe weather was due to strike the area during the district’s peak transportation hours, and that they were concerned about the potential for power outages.
“We always will keep the safety of our children and our employees as our main priority,” Superintendent of Vernon Parish schools James Williams stated.

Classes are expected to resume on Wednesday, March 23.
